Andy Perry has been a master specialty plant grower in Carpinteria, California for many years. During one of his final large-scale greenhouse operations, he began developing the idea for a more effective air-scrubbing system. While applying for greenhouse permitting in Santa Barbara County, Andy was informed that a “spray odor control system” would be required for approval. The cost of the “accepted” systems was prohibitively high. Andy, always the creative innovator, began researching more efficient alternatives.

He brought a carbon filter concept to a manufacturer and asked what it would cost to build. The manufacturer, John Tittlefitz, reviewed the design and suggested they explore adapting an air scrubbing system originally developed for medical waste and clean room applications. John contacted the scientist who held the patent on a unique medical-grade photocatalytic system to see if it could be scaled for large greenhouse and drying room environments.

The resulting experimental air-scrubbing design was built and tested at the manufacturing facility, with impressive results. It was then installed and field-tested in live greenhouse operations, where it exceeded expectations. Santa Barbara County ultimately approved the system for use after on-site testing showed outstanding performance. It remains one of only two systems ever granted approval.

The OmniFlow “Aria” system stands out as the only solution that requires no costly monthly chemicals and contains no replaceable parts. This makes it far superior to traditional carbon filter or spray-based systems.
